About Conroe
Conroe is a Texas city situated 40 miles north of
Houston. It is part of the Houston-Sugar
Land-Baytown metropolitan area. The city of Conroe
is much smaller than Houston, but it shares with its
neighboring metropolis the taste for fine art, which
you will be able to appreciate yourself when you
come to Conroe.
If you are wondering about its name, Conroe is named
after Isaac Conroe, Southern cavalry officer and
Houston lumberman. It was the oil and the lumber
industry that made the city rich. This attracted
many soon-to-be millionaires in Conroe that became
one of the richest of the USA towns, even if for a
brief period of time.
Nevertheless, if you hesitate whether to have a trip
to Conroe or not, you need to know that it had some
famous visitors some time ago: Elvis Presley
performing in 1955 at the High School football field
and Jimmy Buffet at Crighton Theatre in 2009 are
just a few names to get you decided.
If the history background hasn’t convinced you, arts
and activities that have to do with the
entertainment area will definitely sound at least
inviting to you: concerts, live music, theatre acts,
art and photography exhibitions are some of the
attractions that Conroe brags with. Not to mention
the numerous options waiting for you to have fun and
relax: try the three golf courses, the parks and
gardens for a taste of Conroe’s nature, renowned for
the tall pines and rolling hills that compete with
the beautiful surrounding region.
There is more to say about Conroe and definitely a
whole lot more to experience, that’s why you need to
be here. Conroe is simply waiting.
